Initiatives

The CHDC develop, manage and partner a broad variety of projects and iinitiatives across the Central Highlands, Central Queensland, Queensland and Australia. Below is a list of some of our current projects and the initiatives we are iinvolved with. Please contact us should you require further information.


Name: Community Grants 'Outreach' Program
Description:

The Central Highlands Community Grants Program has been enhanced with additional support and funding being provided by Rio Tinto Kestrel Mine and Westfarmers Curragh to enable the Community Grants Officer to do outreach visits to the Capella, Gemfields, Springsure and Blackwater area communities on a monthly basis.

Debbie will provide assistance to not-for-profit organisations in accessing information regarding funding opportunities for an identified project.  She will assist in the preparation of your funding submission by coaching and mentoring as well as providing some knowledgeable tips to navigate through the processes.

Name: Pilot Community Grants Program
Description:

In response to a recognized need in the community CHDC has partnered with Rio Tinto’s Kestrel Mine Community Development Fund in the delivery of a Community Grants Program.

Debbie Gibson has been appointed as the part time Community Grants Officer to support community organisations in identifying and applying for funding.

The program was set up in response to calls from community organizations seeking funding but struggling to find out where to look, or how to go about getting an application together.
Assistance is available to not-for-profit organizations seeking funding for activities and programs that focus on health, sport and recreation, environment, social justice, education and arts and culture.

Name: Regional DVD
Description:

This DVD is to promote the Central Highlands as a vibrant and attractive place to work, live and invest. CHDC has created a marketing tool available to businesses that will showcase our wonderful lifestyle, the social and cultural opportunities, career and business prospects, infrastructure, service, and key aspects that people considering a move or an investment in the region would be interested in. Name: Central Highlands Multicultural Festival
Description: CHDC undertakes the coordination of this Central Highlands Regional Council event which draws together a proactive committee. The program features workshops and performances by local and visiting groups, as well a food stalls offering global cuisine and a very popular International Beer and Wine tent. This mix all ensures this free event is well attended with over 5000 attendees. The date for the 2011 festival is Saturday 27 August, again at the Emerald Showgrounds. Any local business interested in linking with this event should contact the Event Coordinator, Kymberlee Senior, by phoning CHDC on (07) 4982 4386.
